It is hereby agreed by and between the under-

signed as follows:-

Mr. Ito Shigemitsu engages to charter a steamer

and carry from Kobe to Tongku and there deliver to

the British Military or Naval Authorities before the

15th day of August the hand carts, one thousand more

or less constructed by him to the order of the

British Consul,

Mr. Ito will deliver the said hand carts pro-

perly put together, oiled and ready for use,

and for

that purpose will take over with the hand carts a

sufficient number of workmen not less than thirty,

who will hand over each cart ready for immediate

use, and will also hand over 1,000 pairs of washers

and 600 lynch pins extra.

Mr. Ito will also insure the carts and gear

(consisting of covers, pulling straps and ropes) in

the sum of thirty thousand yen.

As an inclusive charge for the whole of the

above services, the British Consul at Kobe will pay
